Give a shout of praise to the Lord ! Then check out the report on Mom.
The oncologist told us there was little left for him to do but to share the good news with us and order some test to be used as good health baselines in the case of future problems. He reported that the surgeon took an unusual abundant sample of 38 lymph nodes and the path. report shows all clear, no nodules in the liver and none of the other test showed any exit of the cancer from the tissue removed on her day of surgery! Praise God! We would trust on Him if the news was bad and we can not stop thanking Him for this good news of health allowed by our good God!
I thank each of you for your continued prayers and your faith that gave strength to all of us during this time and thank God for the blessing He poured out on each of you for taking part! I love my brothers and sisters in Christ and thank everyone for any and all the well wishes and support. I ask for a public word from each that I can share with Mom!
She still needs some more healing but has done far better than anyone would have guessed! We still have a lot to do for her and count that a blessing!
More blessing for you this is my hope and prayer!
Barry

Prayer is answered. Praise God. Judi
Wow!!! This is made my day!
Continued prayers and hugs to Mom.
I’m happy for you!
“LET HIM HAVE ALL YOUR WORRIES AND CARES, FOR HE IS ALWAYS THINKING OF YOU AND WATCHING EVERYTHING THAT CONCERNS YOU.” I Peter 5:7 (TLB) God can’t do anything with our worries and cares until WE GIVE THEM TO HIM. Regarding your Mom…all of us did just that… WE PRAYED AND ASKED HIM TO UNDERTAKE FOR US AND HE DID. Rejoicing with you!! Carolyn
Awesome. Praise God!
Very happy for all of you ~
I’m glad your mom is okay, but something like 15% of all deaths are caused by cancer. Cancer is caused by natural or artificial radiation or chemicals which cause mutations in cells which are usually harmless, but sometimes cause the cells to malfunction, reproducing rapidly out of control, creating tumors. Sometimes these tumors grow a little and then stop, and sometimes they grow a lot and then the cells start to die because of something called programmed cell death. It depends on the nature of the mutation and the kind of cell that mutates, but god has nothing to do with it.
Your mom got lucky, and I’m happy she did, but praising god for a giant pile of corpses because your loved one isn’t one of them isn’t really logical.
Praise God.
Praising God!
Barry, this is great news! Glory and praises to the living God Jesus Christ. I pray for a quick and full recovery for Mom.
Psalm 103:1-5
1 Bless the LORD, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
blessings & best wishes

Praying still for you all,

Praise God my friend! As a retort to our atheist friend above I only say this. We know what cancer is. We only claim that cancer is with us because of the fall of our cosmos via the sin of Adam. Sickness and disease are a part of our world because of that one act. We humbly rely on God to one day save us from this world in that great and final day. Should God choose to heal… We give Him praise. Should He decide to take a life… We mourn and remember the hope that God has promised to those who believe. Amen!
Grace and peace my brother! Yay for Mom!
~Michael
So glad!!

Barry
@fwren - Thank you ! We could not help but to cheer as the doctor walked out of the room with hugs all around!
Barry
@agnophilo - You are right god has little to do with our lives but God has everything to do with it ! I pray someday if but just for a hour you could know the love of God and understand through His wisdom how a live spirit within you can be such a blessing. From our understanding in Christ there is no logic in where you stand against Jesus . Acts 26:14 And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. You could be like Paul if you could set down your pride and lift up the Lord for a close look in His Spirit of truth.
@MC_Shann - You are right Michael and Thank you for all of your prayers of faith my brother!
Barry
@FKIProfessor - Thanks again Lance and God bless for everlasting!
Barry
@thats_italian - Amen Amelia!!! Thanks for His love shown in you my sister!
Barry
@groovy_djsunny - Sunny , what can I say brother , you have been a warrior from God when we were in the greatest need! Thanks so much for the Spirit filled prayers sent down from God and returned through one gifted with Great Faith and Power of God! Mom got a little fearful when we took the direct attack of the spirit of sickness and satan by Word of God and Power of God in His Spirit. I told her spiritual warefare is always going on and Jesus will fight for her and she can rest in Him and His word!
Thank you Brother and Know you are loved by many!
Barry
Thanks Barry. To Jesus be given all the glory. Amen.
God bless you & your loved ones.

Barry
man I am happy for you and your mom! hooah!
@agnophilo - ”God has nothing to do with it”? That statement is just based on an assumtion that there is no God. If there is a God, and he orders history, natural and otherwise, then sure there is reason to praise him. It may look like good luck to you, but to another it looks like a blessed decision of God’s providence and working out of history. Indeed some of us our loved ones die; as did my father when I was 12. But that is no reason to assume that God has nothing to do with any of this. Everyone has their time, many die early. But sometimes God has in store more time on this earth for the people we pray for, and before it works out we cannot know which way it will go. Thanks to God in this instance, things look very good! Surely this is a tacky place for making a case for “there is no god’.
@Happily_Married_Guy -
If god causes that which we do not understand, then why not blame him for cancers we do not know the cause of?
Cancer and other diseases function by definite mechanisms. When I said god has nothing to with it, it wasn’t a commentary on whether there is a god or not. It was a commentary on the idea of claiming that diseases which go into remission for logical reasons have magical causes.
This claim is no more rational than claiming lightning and thunder are supernatural when we understand their mechanisms.
@agnophilo - I don’t think Barry is claiming this was a miraculous magical event… (If he’s like me, which he may not be… dunno… but I believe the age of miracles has passed for the most part) and the cause of disease and other such things Christians believe is the result of sin coming into this world. That is why we don’t blame God. We are not talking here about magical things happening and ascribing them to God. We are talking about God’s sovereign ordering of history, and praising him for a good result. And like I said, when a family is going through stressful and hard times, is this the most prudent place to come along and stick needles in people’s sides, is this the place and time to poke holes in their faith? Seems pretty tacky to me.
@Happily_Married_Guy -
I replied to this thread on the heels of reading about three different people in the news letting their children die because they thought prayer would cure them, so they didn’t take them to the hospital.
This is not always a purely academic issue. I apologize if my commentary seems “tacky”, but it matters to me that people have a down-to-earth view of medicine.
So far as all that about disease is caused by sin and the time of miracles is past and god isn’t responsible, that doesn’t make a bit of sense.
If I knew for a fact someone was going to murder you, and I could easily stop them, and I didn’t do anything and you got killed, would you say I was not responsible? So how could an all-knowing, all-powerful god not be responsible for adam and eve’s transgression or the apple being there in the first place, or anything anyone does?
And how does it make any sense that carcinogens came from a magic apple? The sun gives us cancer, didn’t the sun exist before there was “sin”? So how exactly is cancer caused by sin if cancer causing agents pre-existed it?
This is nonsense mythology that doesn’t stand any kind of scrutiny.
Believe it if you must but it’s silliness.
An Awesome answer to prayer! Praise the LORD!!!!!!
@agnophilo - ”I replied to this thread on the heels of reading about three different people in the news letting their children die because they thought prayer would cure them, so they didn’t take them to the hospital.”
I usually dislike the “quote and repond” method but I’ll use it here just because it will make things much easier. If this is why you responded to barry’s post, then you don’t understand that just because people pray for loved ones does not mean that they are like the people that do not believe in medical intervention. Those people have a different ideology than the type of Christians we are. (people with those views are usually not Christians but belong often to different extremist cults)
“This is not always a purely academic issue. I apologize if my commentary seems “tacky”, but it matters to me that people have a down-to-earth view of medicine.”
Nobody here claimed that there are not natural occurances of cancer, natural treatments for disease, etc. Mind you also Barry’s mom went to a DOCTOR.
“So far as all that about disease is caused by sin and the time of miracles is past and god isn’t responsible, that doesn’t make a bit of sense.
If I knew for a fact someone was going to murder you, and I could easily stop them, and I didn’t do anything and you got killed, would you say I was not responsible? So how could an all-knowing, all-powerful god not be responsible for adam and eve’s transgression or the apple being there in the first place, or anything anyone does?”
This is not about murdering someone… God put the first man and woman he created in a garden, and gave them one rule: ONE. Don’t eat from that tree. Gee, now that’s hard. Don’t eat from a tree. An infinitely Holy, pure God that cannot dwell in the presence of sin asks me to not eat from ONE TREE. What do I do? Hmmmm looks mighty tasty there. Think I’ll have a bite. When that happened, mankind sinned. Sin separates from God. Mankind was now under the wrath of God. If you can’t understand how bad it is to sin against a being that is utterly holy and pure, then of course all you are going to be able to do is just blame God for everything that goes wrong in life. The worst thing that happened when Adam sinned was that all mankind, as represented by Adam, became sinful and under God’s wrath. In this world, people get sick, and they die. God is not obliged to go fix everyone’s problems and sicknesses, as we brought this on ourselves. God can save anyone from anything, but everything bad that happens is a result of mankind’s sin in one way or another. So now that we messed everything up, God has to be our little cosmic bellboy that goes around trying to fix everything that happens? I don’t think so.
“And how does it make any sense that carcinogens came from a magic apple? The sun gives us cancer, didn’t the sun exist before there was “sin”? So how exactly is cancer caused by sin if cancer causing agents pre-existed it?”
I never said this was a magic apple. You are letting your own unbelief and preconcieved notions get in the way. You are also betraying a lack of knowledge that it was not the apple, but the principle of disobeying God that brought this whole mess on us. This whole mess includes not only death by disease, but something far worse, that which is called “the second death” which is eternal seperation from God where man is punished for his sin. Now I don’t use language like this to be critisizing or putting down, but I do believe if you properly understood these things you wouldn’t be asking the question like that. You may disagree with other things or the fairness of the verdict, etc. but you wouldn’t put it that way.
You also said “The sun gives us cancer, didn’t the sun exist before there was “sin”?” In the beginning, everything was created good and perfect. So yes, the sun was here and it didn’t cause cancer.
@simon721984 - We gave a shout , I Mean A BIG Shout as the Doctor left the room after the great news! Thanks for your Word my Brother!!!
Barry
@Happily_Married_Guy - @agnophilo - I know that the age of supernatural miracles are still with us and can be seen if agnophilo would receive Jesus as his Christ as I once did many years ago! It was not of me but of the power of God that allowed me to embrace the good news and come to understanding of my sin nature and of His holy nature. He quickened my spirit that was dead to Him , unconnected and chained to the god of this world (satan). He gives to each a measure of faith so we can choose to seek Him who seeks us. Many other true miracles can be found even if some try to explain them away.
Barry
@Barrygw -
Magical nonsense.
@Happily_Married_Guy -
“I usually dislike the “quote and repond” method but I’ll use it here just because it will make things much easier. Actually the bible, written before modern medicine existed, claims that prayer and anointing with oil will cure the sick, period. You go to the hospital because you don’t believe this any more than I do, because it doesn’t actually do anything. You can pray for everyone with lung cancer to be cured all you want, it won’t become less lethal at all. Or if it does it will be by the effort of doctors and scientists coming up with better treatments, not people invoking voodoo magic spells.
“Nobody here claimed that there are not natural occurances of cancer, natural treatments for disease, etc. Mind you also Barry’s mom went to a DOCTOR.”
Yes, and it’s good that she did.
["If I knew for a fact someone was going to murder you, and I could easily stop them, and I didn't do anything and you got killed, would you say I was not responsible? So how could an all-knowing, all-powerful god not be responsible for adam and eve's transgression or the apple being there in the first place, or anything anyone does?"]
“This is not about murdering someone…”
No, it is about god supposedly knowing adam and eve were going to “sin”, putting them in a position to “sin”, creating a talking serpent to talk them into “sinning”, and then punishing them when all goes to plan and pretending to be more holy than them.
This is not morality, nor do you use this kind of moral logic in your day to day life. You only use it when you want to rationalize your theological views.
“God put the first man and woman he created in a garden, and gave them one rule: ONE. Don’t eat from that tree. Gee, now that’s hard. Don’t eat from a tree.”
And he knew they would do it, and sat back and watched the serpent talk them into it. He also PUT THE TREE THERE TO BEGIN WITH, and didn’t give them all the facts so they could see the wisdom in not eating from it.
If I fill my backyard with landmines and tell my kids “don’t go into the backyard”, and then sit there and watch through the window as they happily trapse into the backyard to get themselves blown up, who is the evildoer here?
The point of the story is that you need to understand the difference between good and evil in order to do evil. They did not have that understanding in the story until it was too late, god supposedly did.
“An infinitely Holy, pure God that cannot dwell in the presence of sin asks me to not eat from ONE TREE.”
Why not? That’s like me saying I’m so awesome I can’t be in the same room with you. Why the hell not?
Are you telling me that there are things I can do that god can’t? And that I can decide where god can and can’t “dwell” by my actions? Who’s the god here?
“What do I do? Hmmmm looks mighty tasty there. Think I’ll have a bite. When that happened, mankind sinned. Sin separates from God. Mankind was now under the wrath of God. If you can’t understand how bad it is to sin against a being that is utterly holy and pure, then of course all you are going to be able to do is just blame God for everything that goes wrong in life.”
I don’t blame god for anything. I’m merely trying to show the huge missteps in your logic.
“The worst thing that happened when Adam sinned was that all mankind, as represented by Adam, became sinful and under God’s wrath. In this world, people get sick, and they die.”
Sorry, but viruses, diseases, bacteria, genetic disorders etc work based on definite mechanisms and have existed as long as people have. Your silly mythology not withstanding.
“God is not obliged to go fix everyone’s problems and sicknesses, as we brought this on ourselves.”
Um, he promises to in the scriptures. I guess making a promise doesn’t obligate one in any way.
“God can save anyone from anything, but everything bad that happens is a result of mankind’s sin in one way or another. So now that we messed everything up, God has to be our little cosmic bellboy that goes around trying to fix everything that happens? I don’t think so. “
As gene roddenberry once said, “we must question the story logic of a perfect god who creates imperfect humans, and blames them for his own mistakes.”
“I never said this was a magic apple. You are letting your own unbelief and preconcieved notions get in the way.”
Oh I’m sorry, you’re right – fruit from a magic tree. It only doesn’t make sense because I said apple, yeah that’s the problem with it.
“You are also betraying a lack of knowledge that it was not the apple, but the principle of disobeying God that brought this whole mess on us.”
It was the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, once man ate from the tree they became capable of evil which is not simply doing harm, but doing harm with eyes open. That is the nature of sin, it requires forknowledge. The story is a commentary on the nature of morality. A wolf can rip out your throat, it cannot “sin”, it cannot be evil. Because evil isn’t doing an evil thing, evil is knowing something is wrong and choosing to do it anyway.
But no, it’s a story about how magic trees cause cancer…
“This whole mess includes not only death by disease, but something far worse, that which is called “the second death” which is eternal seperation from God where man is punished for his sin. Now I don’t use language like this to be critisizing or putting down, but I do believe if you properly understood these things you wouldn’t be asking the question like that. You may disagree with other things or the fairness of the verdict, etc. but you wouldn’t put it that way.”
“If you understood this issue you wouldn’t be saying what you do” means nothing. So far as the “second death” the concept of biblical punishment has changed dramatically over the centuries and been deliberately changed by politicians and tyrants to control people, and then rationalized by more modern evangelists.
“You also said “The sun gives us cancer, didn’t the sun exist before there was “sin”?” In the beginning, everything was created good and perfect. So yes, the sun was here and it didn’t cause cancer.”
That is a fantastic claim for which you have not one speck of evidence. Because “faith” gives you a license to depart at will what you can know and rationally conclude, and believe any fantastic thing you want. This is a privilege generally reserved for mental patients.
The sun causes cancer because the atmosphere of the earth is too thin to shield the earth from the harmful spectrums of radiation. Exactly how did eating from a tree without permission make the atmosphere of the earth thinner? You might as well be claiming that masturbation causes kittens to become diabetic, for all the two have to do with one another.
It is a laughable, ridiculous, stupid, baseless claim, and only in religion is nonsense made up off the top of one’s head not only not ridiculed as what it is, but met with respect and considered valid and true and reasonable, often for centuries at a time.
@agnophilo - Ok fine you obviously know everything and everyone else is just a religious nut.
@Happily_Married_Guy -
Way to not acknowledge or deal with anything I said.
@agnophilo -
I believe it’s called being tired, busy, annoyed, and feeling like I’m wasting my time. Maybe I’ll get to it later.
@Happily_Married_Guy -
I know the feeling.
It comes most often when I respond to everything someone says and then they blow me off and condescend instead of replying.
